UN Environment Assembly 11 - 15 March 2019

UNEA opened on a solemn note, and we, at the Center for Environmental Governance, express our condolences and gratitude for the work and commitment of the UN Staff, scientists, activists, and humanitarian campaigners who lost their lives in the Ethiopian Airlines crash. The entire community mourns your loss. ___________________________________________________________________

The fourth session of the United Nations Environmental Assembly convenes to discuss innovative solutions for environmental challenges as well as sustainable consumption and production. Follow UNEA #SolveDifferent to learn the latest.

The Assembly’s theme hones in on innovative solutions to address three focus areas:

(a) environmental challenges related to poverty and natural resources management, including sustainable food systems, food security and halting biodiversity loss;

(b) life-cycle approaches to resource efficiency, energy, chemicals and waste management; and

(c) innovative sustainable business development at a time of rapid technological change.

The Assembly will examine the evidence from the latest global assessments and the need to create a system of circular and sustainable consumption and production. Read more about the agenda, side events, and access interactive program here and follow UNEA4 live here

The Center for Environmental Governance is represented by Senior Fellow, Niko Urho and Ph.D. Student, Anna Dubrova.
