The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) is preparing for its annual conference, which in 2010 will be on the theme Campus Initiatives to Catalyze a Just and Sustainable World.

In preparation for the 2012 conference on sustainable development in Rio–20 years after the Rio Earth Summit–the first preparatory committee meeting (PrepCom) was held 17-19 May in New York.

What will it take to reconcile the environment and the economy? What it will take to make the pursuit of sustainable development in the 21st century a success? These questions will be discussed in a substance-based dialogue at the upcoming conference “Our Common Future 2.0″ co-organized by Corporate Knights and the International Institute for Sustainable Development on 21 June 2010 in Toronto, Canada.

In January 2010, at the annual National Council for the Science and the Environment conference, The New Green Economy, former Dean of the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, Gus Speth delivered the 10th annual John H. Chafee Memorial Lecture entitled “A New American Environmentalism and the New Economy.

First held in 2009, the Second Conference on Climate Change will be hosted by the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia from 8-10 July 2010, centered on the theme of Climate Change and its Global Implications for people, ethics, and equity.

The National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) will be hosting their 11th National Conference for Science, Policy and the Environment from January 19-21, 2011 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC.
