Publication Highlight: “Perspectives” a Series from UNEP

Feb 19, 2012 No Comments by

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced a new publication series, Perspectives, which is designed to ensure that the voices of civil society are better heard in the ongoing discussions on environment and sustainable development. This effort supports UNEP’s partnership with Major Groups and Stakeholders and its efforts to improve the global environment. Perspectives will present discussion papers, opinion pieces, and reports that will focus primarily on topics related to Rio+20 and its follow up. The views presented in the publications do not necessarily reflect those of UNEP, but rather inform the discussions and will contribute to the strengthening of the dialogue on environment and sustainable development.

Perspectives will be widely distributed among Major Groups, Governments and Media in electronic form and, when possible, in print. Up to ten Perspectives issues are planned for 2012, and at least six issues are planned for 2013. The series will be coordinated by UNEP’s Major Groups and Stakeholders Branch, Division of Regional Cooperation.

The first two issues of the series, Discussion Paper: Improving Public Participation in Environmental Governance and Models for Local Government Organisations (LGOs) involvement in a strengthened UNEP, are currently available.
