Upcoming Conference on The New Green Economy in Washington, DC

Dean Emeritus of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and GEG Forum Participant, James Gustave Speth, will deliver the 10th Annual John H. Chafee Memorial lecture on “A New American Environmentalism and the New Economy,” at the National Council for Science and the Environment conference on Science, Policy and the Environment. The conference will aim to define the meaning of the green economy and how investment in green education, research and jobs can help solve both the economic and environmental crises. American economist Herman Daly will be honored with the NCSE Lifetime Achievement Award. Past recipients of the award have included Maurice F. Strong (2002), former UNEP Executive Director and Secretary-General of the Stockholm Conference and Rio Earth Summit, and William D. Ruckelshaus (2005), the first and fifth EPA administrator, both were GEG Forum Participants.

    When and where in Washington DC is the conference to take place?

    The conference was held at a variety of locations on the first day and the rest of the conference was held at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Building next to the Federal Triangle Metro Station.
